Optatec 2022 – a Highly Successful Relaunch!
The Optatec international trade fair for optical technologies, components and systems experienced an outstanding relaunch in Frankfurt from the 18th through the 20th of October, 2022. After a 4-year interruption, the optotechnology and image processing sectors met once again – live and in person – at this highly specialised, long-awaited world-class event. Renewed high levels of internationalism, as witnessed in previous years with more than 50% of the exhibitors from outside Germany, once again confirmed the prestige of this leading trade fair.
Frickenhausen, 25 October 2022 – The 15th Optatec international trade fair for optical technologies, components and systems in Frankfurt was a resounding success from the 18th through the 20th of October, 2022. 255 exhibitors from 30 countries presented a comprehensive overview of global offerings for products, stand-alone and system solutions, as well as applications in the field of optotechnology including optical components, optomechanics, optoelectronics, fibre-optics, fibre-optic cables, laser components and digital microscopy, as well as processing machines and manufacturing systems for the production of optics, to a total of 3481 visitors from 37 countries on roughly 4500 square metres of exhibition floor space in hall 8. Twelve exhibitors travelled to the event from China, nine from the USA, eight from France and seven from the UK.
Many Enthusiastic Voices Emphasise the Importance of the Trade Fair
It became plainly apparent right from the outset just how important face-to-face technical discussions can be – they can’t be replaced by any other form of communication. This was confirmed by numerous enthusiastic voices. “We’re always eager to participate at Optatec in Frankfurt in order to present new products and meet up with customers and partners,” said Dr. Christoph Seibel from Hamamatsu Photonics Germany. “It’s important to be on hand and offline – it’s indispensable.”
“We’re thrilled – great event, interesting discussions,” said Axel Haunholter from Optosigma Europe SAS in Munich in summing up his company’s second appearance at Optatec. And he added that Optatec is the right trade fair for anyone interested in optics.
“We’ve been exhibiting at Optatec from the very beginning,” affirmed Holger Bäuerle, vice managing director of CeramOptec GmbH in Bonn, Germany. “We’re able to present our fibre optic products for the medical and industrial sectors on a customised basis at the event. That’s why it’s important for us to engage in discussion with our customers here at Optatec.”
“Optatec is the right trade fair for us with regard to the target groups we meet up with,” confirmed Oliver Wojtala from technical consulting and sales at Matzdorf GmbH in Nuremberg.
“Optatec is very important for us,” noted Professor Matthias Will from the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. “It’s the link from the universities to the optics industry.” For Will it’s a matter of attracting young talent and students to the subject of photonics, which is why he and his team took school groups on a tour of the trade fair. “This makes an especially strong impression.”
“For us, Optatec is the world’s leading trade fair in the field of optics manufacturing technology,” stressed Matthias Pfaff of OptoTech Optikmaschinen GmbH in Wettenberg, Germany. “The whole world comes to Frankfurt to find out about new technologies, new processes and new machines. This is where the community gets together and exchanges ideas and experience.”
Dr Jürgen Bode of Satisloh GmbH, the world’s leading company for eyeglass and precision optics, was very pleased with the high levels of visitor interest in, amongst other things, the new coating machine introduced by the company as a trade fair highlight this year.
Optotechnology and Image Processing as Issues of the Future
The topics covered by Optatec are steadily gaining in importance in all industrial and non-industrial sectors. Optical technologies are being driven by ever-stricter quality requirements, as well as by expanding use of automation and digitalisation. “Optatec 2022 has once again demonstrated the extent to which the optical technologies have advanced, and just how indispensable they are for numerous facets of life,” sums up project manager Fabian Krüger from trade fair promoters P. E. Schall. “After the trade fair had to be postponed several times and was at last being eagerly anticipated by the industry, these three days have once again underscored the global significance of the event,” says Krüger with great satisfaction.
Nowhere else do international experts, manufacturers and users of optotechnology and image processing meet in such a focused manner as at Optatec. As a result, production and quality assurance managers, as well as system integrators, hold Optatec in high esteem as a key trade fair for the optotechnology and image processing sector. Exhibitors and visitors benefit from its thematic exclusivity, its high degree of technical orientation and its precise targeting of specific groups. With their proven, practice-oriented concept, the trade fair promoters ensure direct, pragmatic user benefits and provide feasible solution options for practical, operational implementation. “After Optatec is before Optatec,” says project manager Krüger, who is looking forward to the next international trade fair for optical technologies, components and systems, which will be held in Frankfurt in two years, namely in May/June 2024.
